Friðthjófur Þorsteinsson completed a Bachelor's degree in lighting design at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in 2009 and a Master's degree in stage design at Central St. Martin's College of Art and Design in 2013. He has lived in the UK for over a decade and in addition to his work there, his work has been seen e.g. in Ireland, Europe, Bermuda, USA, South Korea, China, India. In Iceland, he has mainly worked in independent theatre. Friðthjófur has designed for plays, musicals, contemporary dance, ballet, puppet shows, various events and also fashion weeks in London, Paris and Milan. In addition to designing performing arts exhibitions, Friðthjófur works as an architect's consultant in the design of performing arts houses and as such has consulted on around fifty theaters, opera houses, classical music halls, sports stadiums, museums, specially equipped visual theaters, outdoor performing arts spaces, consulting regarding operations and more regarding the structure and opportunities regarding the performing arts all over the world. He also works as a teacher at many of the major performing arts schools in Great Britain. Friðþjóf's recent works include The Intelligence Park (Music Theater Wales & Royal Opera House), Lady of the Camellias (Shanghai Ballet), Hadestown (The Royal National Theatre – co-designer), Unknown (Frystiklefinn), Benedikt Búálfur (Akureyri Theatre) etc.
