A brand new and provocotive chamber-opera about a girl who refuses to work and a bored queen
When her chauffeur falls ill, the queen is forced to take a taxi. The taxi driver can't find her palace on the GPS and gets fired - but the queen still can't stop thinking about her. She wants to know why the general public is so depressing and if she can help. Maybe there is some treatment or possibly, surgery or even a challenge?
The opera Hundred Thousand is about the crumbs that fall from the tables of excess, fall to the floor and are soon vacuumed up.
The theater group Black Jacket staged and premiered the opera in collaboration with the National Theater. Black Jacket previously staged the opera KOK in Reykjavík City Theatre. KOK, written by the same authors, was awarded The Icelandic Music Awards as Music Event of the Year and received several nominations for Gríman, the Icelandic Theatre Awards.
